Bilbo Poynter

Bilbo Poynter is executive director and founder of the Canadian Centre for Investigative Reporting. His reports have been seen and heard on CBC Radio, CBC.ca, and the Canadian Press. As a researcher, then associate producer with the CBC Investigative Unit he contributed to two award winning series, ‘Invisible Dangers’ and, ‘Dying for a Job’, as well as numerous national and regional reports for CBC radio, and the flagship current affairs program, ‘As It Happens’. He was also the first Canadian to work for the Center for Investigative Reporting in California. In 2006 he received a grant from the Fund for Investigative Journalism to look into missing women cases in Canada. His investigative skills were honed while co-ordinating security and intelligence for a number of community organizations against racist violence in the 1980’s, and early 90’s.
