New Ways to Support the CCIR!
![]() |
Perhaps the first time you heard about the Canadian Centre for Investigative Reporting was around our recent media panel, “Is the Mainstream Media Dying? Can Investigative Reporting Save It? Should It?” held at the National Film Board Mediatheque in Toronto.
Did you know that the CCIR has been quietly making the case for more independent investigative reporting on stories that matter to Canadians for over a year now? And now that we have our charitable status – the only media organization of its kind to be granted charitable status in Canada – the real work begins.
This also means that your contributions to the CCIR are now
tax-deductable. These truly are exciting times for independent investigative reporting in Canada, but in order to research the complicated issues overlooked by the powerful and produce the high-impact stories important to Canadians, the CCIR needs your support.
Here are a number of ways you can help today:
Are you a member of a book club? Consider hosting a CCIR authors’ night. Make a book by a CCIR advisor the topic of your next book club meeting, and we’ll send you a signed copy of the book. Raise donations from your club members for the CCIR. Hosting a dinner party? Why not host one for us? We’ll send you all you’ll need to make the pitch for the CCIR and more public interest journalism in Canada! And if you raise over $1,000 we’ll make you a Patron and mention you on the website. Contact us to find out how.
Are you in a band in Toronto? Own a gallery in St. John’s? A journalist in Vancouver? Consider putting on a benefit for the CCIR. We’ll prepare you and help where we can. Raise over $1,000 and become a Patron. We may even select your event to be featured on the website.

Web designers: The CCIR is in need of tech support to keep the web site up-to-date and relevant. In particular we are looking for webmasters with experience in Flash.
Graphic designers and illustrators: We’re journalists, researchers and documentary producers who recognize that we need some beautiful dreamers to make the CCIR vision a reality, not to mention to help us look good. If you think you can help with this or anything else, please get in touch.
